Doves Suffer 9-6 Road Loss
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Saint Louis Reds were eager to watch Elvis Wheeler square off against Joaquin Bennett of the visiting Cincinnati Doves. In the end, the Reds won the game, 9-6, with Elvis Wheeler leading the way. Wheeler picked up the win for Saint Louis, going 7 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Edward Cook delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Saint Louis catcher hit a 2-run single, putting the Reds in front, 9-6.
"It's a mindset," said Wheeler. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
