Whales Win by Slim Margin, 3-2
The Brooklyn Whales earned a close win over the Boston Banshees, thanks in part to Walter Fain. The Brooklyn left-hander, who finished 2nd in the EL in wins with 21 in 1910, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Fain, now 16-15, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 0, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Brooklyn has now won 4 straight.

Robert Bennion was the walk-off hero for Brooklyn. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whales second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I was determined to go the distance," said Fain.
