Boston right-hander Weldon Vipont helped his team edge New York by the score of 3-2. Vipont kept the opposing lineup in check. Boston reliever William Blundell picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. Alonzo Orson was saddled with the loss. With the win, Boston raised its record to 53-49.

The Banshees got a clutch hit from right fielder Robert Carter. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Banshees.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Vipont said.
