Clippers Get Clutch Win Versus New York
|
Baltimore ruined an otherwise fine effort from Russell Hobley by toppling New York, 3-2. The New York pitcher threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The winning pitcher was Harry Mitchell. His record now stands at 3-3. The left-hander went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Clippers. Stanford Gimson finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of John Marshall to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Clippers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Marshall hailed his team's "grit."
Baltimore sits in 6th place in the Eastern Division at 40-52.
