100 Victories for New York's George Leeder
|
History was made today at The Boston Yards -- George Leeder won game #100 to seal his name in the league record books. The New York ace downed the Boston Banshees 6-4 to gain entrance into the elite 100 Club.
"I was wound up at first. I think I threw too hard," remarked Leeder, "I had to calm down and go out there and pitch... not just throw. I think I got better as the game wore on. I started to think less about 100 wins and more about doing what I had to do."
Through the years Leeder has fashioned a 100-102 mark, 3.29 ERA and thrown 1932 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .274 lifetime against him and he has logged 843 career strikeouts.
