Bakers Stay Hot, Beat Brewers, 6-1
|
The New York Bakers went home winners at Bakers Field, thanks in large part to starter Robert Batkin. Batkin stifled the Philadelphia Brewers, enabling New York to grab the 6-1 win. The third-place Bakers have won 6 straight.
Had Adrian Ives not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Ives hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Bakers.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Batkin told the New York Gazette.
