Bakers Lose By a Run at Philadelphia
In a tight tilt between the Philadelphia Brewers and the New York Bakers, Reinhold Rogers was the deciding factor. The Philadelphia right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. New York, at 33-42, has lost 4 straight.

The Bakers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Brewers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging center fielder Alfonso Buntine came to the plate. Buntine hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-0 fastball from New York hurler Robert Batkin. It was Buntine's 4th triple of the year.

"We were in it," said New York manager James Hewitt. "We just didn't score enough runs."
