Clippers Victorious at Richmond, 4-3
|
Clippers third baseman Elmer Wyeth left his mark on his team's 4-3 win over the Richmond Rifles. Wyeth, who is tied for 5th in the EL in home runs with 3, was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Baltimore in the contest. Arthur Armstrong was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities. The last-place Clippers have won 7 straight games.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Connie Smith was at the plate when Baltimore scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Clippers to go in front, 2-1.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Smith told the Baltimore Bulletin.
