Behind an impressive start by Merrill Marsham, Boston beat Baltimore, 2-1. Marsham, now 12-8, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was Verner Pomfret, his 4th.

Boston used the timely hitting of Guy Slade to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Banshees on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
