Bakers Win, 2-1, Extend Streak to 4 Games
|
The New York Bakers scooped up a win at Bakers Field, dumping the Boston Banshees, 2-1. Harry Savory, who finished 3rd in the EL in innings pitched with 337.2 in 1910, was essential to his team's success. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Boston.
The Bakers got a big at-bat from second baseman James Oldreave. For the game, Oldreave went 1-3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
"Good ballgame," said Boston manager Jesse Smith. "But we came up on the short end."
