Guardians Sunk by Rangers
|
Texas turned a good performance from starting pitcher Phil Niekro into a 4-1 triumph over the Cleveland Guardians at Cleveland Stadium. The loss drops the Guardians to 2-4.
Chipping in for Texas was left fielder Bill Sample. He stroked a single in the top of the first. For the game, Sample was 1 for 4 with a walk.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Niekro.
