Guardians Stumble, Lose to Rangers
The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Arlington Stadium, knocking off the Cleveland Guardians, 9-2. Starting pitcher Phil Niekro was a big reason why. The loss makes Cleveland 15-22.

Right Fielder Joe Carter made an impact for Texas, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Pete Falcone in the bottom of the first. For the contest, Carter was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Niekro told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
