Wences Gets 5 Hits
|
Pete Wences did a number on the Smoke Screen in the 34-5 Eden victory -- and the number was 5. The Eagles catcher banged out 5 hits in 5 at-bats at Bisons Field to lead his club past the Seattle Smoke Screen.
"I felt good in the batter's box," he said. "I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done."
Pete Wences was hit by a pitch in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
So far this season, Wences has gotten 83 hits in 191 at-bats for a .435 batting average with 13 home runs. His stats include 74 RBIs and 77 runs scored. He has played in 43 games.
