Cereghino Excels, But Shamrocks Win
|
Boston and Duskwood duked it out and the Shamrocks came out victorious.
Duskwood third baseman Chad Cereghino was sensational. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Boston beat the Bounty Hunters, 9-6. Marquis Townsel picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-2 on the season. He struck out 10 and walked 4 in 5 innings, while yielding 1 run. Getting the save was Andres Lugo, his 1st.
Boston took the lead, 9-4, on Phil Newbill's 26th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Duskwood pitcher Edgar Lugo in the bottom of the eighth.
"I believe in our guys," said Boston skipper Sergio Salvatierra. "I like the energy they're playing with."
The Boston winning streak has reached 5 games.
