Bath Helps Bananas Run Win Streak to 6
|
Savannah first baseman Jim Bath contributed significantly to his team's 29-11 win over the Seattle Smoke Screen. Bath, who is on pace for 133 RBI this season, went 4 for 6 with 5 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Bananas. Josh Putnam came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. The Bananas, at 22-4, have now won 6 straight.
With Savannah leading 5-1 in the top of the fourth, Bath came up to bat against Seattle pitcher Elbio Alwardt. Bath hit a fastball to center for a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Bananas on top, 9-1.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Bath.
