Greenville Advances to Round 2 Monday, September 18th , 2045 Greenville right fielder Jordan Ruiz couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Round 1. "It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Ruiz moments after his club eliminated the Hickory Crawdads to advance to the Round 2. Greenville won the final game by a score of 9-2 at L.P. Frans Stadium and took the series 4-1. "We won the series and that's the main thing," Ruiz said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted." For the series, Ruiz hit .409 with a .409 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs. "He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Hickory manager Eric Farris. The Greenville Drive will play against the Wilmington Blue Rocks in the next round. Wilmington won their series against the Brooklyn Cyclones 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
