Cardinals Win Round 1 Saturday, September 19th , 2043 Jon Patterson said he expected the Round 1 to be "a battle from start to finish." In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the Springfield Cardinals encountered little resistance in sweeping the Tulsa Drillers, to advance to the Round 2. "It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series," said Patterson. Springfield won the final game by a 5-3 count and were led in the series by Patterson, who was named MVP. On the series, he hit .333 with 2 home runs. He also drove in 7 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Springfield Cardinals don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Corpus Christi Hooks - Midland RockHounds series. Midland leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
