Piccoli Slams 3 Deep for El Paso Thursday, July 3rd , 2042 El Paso Chihuahuas center fielder Innocenzio Piccoli sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Round Rock Express, Piccoli told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Piccoli pushed the Chihuahuas past the Express, 11-3. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Piccoli told reporters after the game. Innocenzio Piccoli hit a solo-shot off Mat Peterson in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Mat Peterson in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Pat Long in the 7th, struck out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Piccoli is swinging at a .252 pace on the year with 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has played in 58 games. |
