Wilmington-Fort Myers Brawl, Squillino and Thomas Suspended
Monday, August 3rd , 2071
If there wasn't a history between Pierluigi Squillino of Wilmington and Willie Thomas of Fort Myers, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 3 and 6 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Squillino said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
This season, Squillino is swinging the bat at a .292 rate with 108 hits in 370 at-bats. To date he has hit 17 home runs, scored 49 runs and driven in 67.
Thus far this season, Thomas has saved 1 games. His won-lost mark is 1 win and no losses with 34 strikeouts in 34 innings, along with a 5.03 ERA.
