Hits Galore: Gibbs Drills 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 21st , 2071
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Kelsey Gibbs is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Brevard County Manatees at Space Coast Stadium. The monster effort from the 23-year-old second baseman helped the Grand Junction Rockies get the win, 12-7.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Manatees manager Mackenzie Lau. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Kelsey Gibbs singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Domingo Canales in the 8th and was hit by a pitch in the 9th.
For the year, Gibbs has hit .376 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and scored 17 runs.
