Fire Frogs Brown Stops Fireflies
Friday, July 3rd , 2071
The Columbia Fireflies manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Florida Fire Frogs. The Fireflies were overpowered by Florida starter Jim Brown, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Kane Jeanes said.
Over 10 innings, Brown blanked Columbia on 6 hits with 3 walks and 11 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Brown said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 10 starts this year, Brown has crafted a 5-4 record and a 4.31 ERA.
