Yankees Get Clutch Win, 4-3
|
The New York Yankees topped the Boston Red Sox, 4-3, in 11 innings at Yankee Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher José Rivera. New York reliever Brian Taylor was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jack Douglas. The win gives New York a record of 11-10.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when New York second baseman Jorge Rivas, facing Jack Douglas, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Yankees the 4-3 win.
"We'll try to build on that win," Rivas told the New York Daily News.
