Yankees Defeat White Sox, 4-1
|
Luther Jensen pitched a gem to lead New York to victory over the Chicago White Sox, 4-1, in 13 innings. Christos Sutcliffe earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. New York is now 3-5.
New York needed the clutch hitting of Junior Thompson to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Yankees on top, 4-1. For the game, Thompson had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Jensen.
