After a 5-hit effort to lead Salt Lake's 15-8 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox, second baseman Kevin Schiffer told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Triple A-level is really something special."

The 25-year-old player earned his accolades at Franklin Covey Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Red Sox.

"His swing is getting there," said Bees skipper Adriano Perrone, who spoke glowingly of Schiffer after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Kevin did that to perfection."

Kevin Schiffer doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

For the season, Schiffer is currently batting .446 with 1 home run and 13 RBIs. In 13 games he has reached base at a .456 rate and scored 8 runs to date.
