Valdéz Immaculate Against Sacramento, Records Perfect Game
Toledo Mud Hens starter Ron Valdéz was as good as a pitcher can be, as he hurled a perfect game against the Sacramento River Cats.

In doing so, Valdéz accomplished one of the most difficult feats in baseball and one that will put his name in the record books.

"I can tell you I've dreamed about a day like this," Valdéz told the press after the game. "Now that I've done it, the feeling is even better."

In his splendid 15-0 victory at Fifth Third Field, Valdéz yielded no hits, walked none and had 17 strikeouts. In the historic outing he retired 27 successive batters.

Valdéz has fashioned a 4-1 mark for the season, 1.48 ERA and thrown 54.2 innings in 8 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .185 against him.
