Mets Turn Back Cubs, 3-1

The New York Mets rode a solid performance from 34-year-old starting pitcher Domingo López to a win, beating the Chicago Cubs, 3-1, at Citi Field. López, now 14-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was Clint Wilson. He's now 3 for 3 in save chances.
New York took control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Helmer Mickelsson hit a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Mets.
"I just tried to stick to my strengths," said López.
New York goes to 98-63. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.
