Pirates Victorious at Milwaukee, 4-3
|
Starting pitcher Sergio Olivas pitched well enough to help the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3. The winning pitcher was Olivas, now 11-14. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 9. Quentin Lano picked up his 31st save of the season.
Pittsburgh won the game in part because of Ivano Tuchkov. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Pirates ahead, 4-0. For the game, Tuchkov had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I'm proud to wear a Pittsburgh jersey," Tuchkov told the Pittsburgh Observer. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
The Pirates sport a record of 63-93.
