The Miami Marlins powered past the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-7, at Olympic Stadium. Martial Gusti provided some of the pop. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Miami pitcher Nezih Yuksel earned the win, hiking his record to 4-1. Floyd Fletcher suffered the loss. The Marlins now own a record of 42-38.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Miami trailing 7-6, Gusti jumped on a changeup from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Floyd Fletcher and hit a 3-run home run to left. With one swing, the Marlins had a walk-off win.

"The ending was a real humdinger," Gusti told reporters after the game.
