Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Rays, 4-3
|
When the games really matter, the Tampa Bay Rays put on their best show, beating the Cleveland Guardians by a final score of 4-3 today. Phil Lee went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tampa Bay now leads Cleveland 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Tampa Bay designated hitter Brannigan Layburn, facing Shannon Giarraputo, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Rays the 4-3 win.
"We found a way to get it done," Layburn said.
Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
