Bakersfield Takes Round 1
The Bakersfield Blaze took time to celebrate with the Bakersfield fans who stuck around after the game, following the team's Round 1 triumph over the Kingsport Mets.

Members of the Blaze hung around chatting, high-fiving and taking pictures with the Bakersfield fans in attendance at Hunter Wright Stadium, long after the last pitch had been thrown in their 8-5 win to seal the series 4-2.

"We've got great fan support," said right fielder Luis Sánchez. "Whether we're at home or on the road, the fans support us. So we wanted to show them how important that is to us. Some Kingsport fans that were there even congratulated us on the win."

For the series, Sánchez hit .379 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, 10 RBI and scored 5 runs.

Things weren't so cordial on the Mets side of things. Their clubhouse was closed to media after the game and all players and coaches quickly dressed and left the stadium after the end to their season.

The Bakersfield Blaze will play against the South Bend Silver Hawks in the next round. South Bend had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
