Elroy Johnson was at the head of a Altoona hit parade at Trustmark Park. The shortstop went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Curve to a nice 14-12 victory over the Mississippi Braves.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Johnson told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Braves skipper Jesse Perkins said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Elroy Johnson doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

So far this year, Johnson is hitting .302 with 3 home runs.
