Mathews Big Deal in Bluefield: Hits for Cycle
It was a quite a day for Dan Mathews at Bowen Field.

He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is -- a single, double, triple and home run. The Bluefield center fielder accomplished the rare feat during his team's 4-3 victory over the Florida Fire Frogs.

"I never even thought about hitting for the cycle and what do you know, I did it," he told BNN reporters at the postgame press conference. "The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it's the win that's important."

Mathews went 4-for-6 in the game with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Dan Mathews tripled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Kane Mitchell in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, struck out in the 9th and singled in the 10th.

This year, Mathews is hitting .247 with 8 home runs and 25 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .393 clip and scored 33 runs.
