The Cincinnati Reds faced a tough opponent in Atlanta pitcher Pavla Mlotkovsky, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Great American Ball Park by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Mlotkovsky went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Cincinnati reliever Roy Hamilton got the win, raising his record to 1-3. Roy Guzmán was tagged with the loss. With the win, Cincinnati is 12-17.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Cincinnati. That's when Emmitt Cote hit a solo home run off 37-year old right-handed pitcher Roy Guzmán to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Cote. "But we got it done."
