Swingers Make It 4 Straight with 5-0 Win
|
Jeff McFarland, who finished 4th in the GCSL in wins with 15 last year, never let the Motorboaters get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Swingers to a win, 5-0. The winning pitcher was McFarland, now 7-2. He tossed 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Lance Ayala got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Scott Dodson? The New Orleans shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Swingers on top, 2-0. For the game, Dodson had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Dodson told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The New Orleans winning streak has reached 4 games.
