Continentals Pitching Ravaged by Conrads Sunday, January 3rd , 2044 After a 5-hit effort to lead Springdale's 23-4 victory over the Po'ipu Continentals, catcher Gabe Conrads told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Winter League-level is really something special." The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Springdale Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Continentals. "His swing is getting there," said Penmen skipper Jimmy Jacquot, who spoke glowingly of Conrads after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Gabe did that to perfection." Gabe Conrads hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. In this current campaign Conrads is hitting at a .426 clip with 7 home runs and 27 RBIs. |
