Plamondon Batters Miami (GCL) for 5 Hits Thursday, September 5th , 2041 After a 5-hit effort to lead Tampa Bay (GCL)'s 8-5 victory over the Miami (GCL) Marlins, center fielder Danny Plamondon told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Gulf Coast Rookie League-level is really something special." The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Roger Dean Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-7 game against the Marlins. "His swing is getting there," said Rays skipper Zach Ashwood, who spoke glowingly of Plamondon after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Danny did that to perfection." Danny Plamondon singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, tripled in the 8th, walked in the 10th, grounded out in the 13th and hit a two-run triple in the 14th. This season, Plamondon is batting .325 with 45 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 7 home runs. |
