Montecalvo Grabs AZL Reliever of the Year Wednesday, September 25th , 2041 Mike Montecalvo was a calming influence out of the Cincinnati (AZL) Reds bullpen this season. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 20-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Arizona Rookie League Reliever of the Year for 2041. The Long Beach, California native won the award with 11 saves in 19 relief appearances, 11 strikeouts in 20.2 innings and a record of 1-1 to go with his 4.35 ERA. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 19. Jake Doss of the Arizona (AZL) Diamondbacks finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Doug Whiting of the San Francisco (AZL) Giants Orange finished third with 1 first place vote.
