Metcalfe Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out Cincinnati (AZL) Monday, August 3rd , 2043 San Diego (AZL) Padres 2 pitcher Steve Metcalfe blanked the Cincinnati (AZL) Reds, 9-0, at Peoria Sports Complex, tossing a 4-hitter while issuing 1 walk and collecting 8 strikeouts. After his sharp shutout performance, he shared credit with the rest of the club. "I was just locked in out there and some of that is due to having a catcher who has such a great feel for hitters," Metcalfe said. "I couldn't do what I did without all the guys out there today." To this point in the season Metcalfe has 6 wins and 2 losses and a 2.74 ERA. |
