Briley Knight Jr. of the Hillsboro Hops proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Northwest League Most Valuable Player Award.

Knight Jr. hit for a .372 average while collecting 99 hits, 37 doubles, no triples, 12 home runs, 45 RBIs and scoring 32 times.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 8. Steve Lawrence of the Eugene Emeralds finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Ben Morello of the Tri-City Dust Devils finished third.
