Ruiz at His Best, Whips Fisher Cats Wednesday, August 5th , 2043 David Ruiz led the Erie SeaWolves to a shutout victory, 3-0, over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at UPMC Park. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Ruiz recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." Ruiz yielded 5 hits and had 4 strikeouts and no walks in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," New Hampshire manager Noel De La Cruz said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching." So far this season, Ruiz has a record of 5-5 with 57 strikeouts and 19 walks in 70 innings and a 4.11 ERA. |
