5-Hit Blitz by Fulton
A jubilant Mike Fulton joined the postgame press conference at Spectrum Field to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Clearwater Threshers pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Tampa Tarpons center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 10-2 Tarpons win.

"He made it look easy," said Glenn Albanese, manager of the Threshers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Mike Fulton singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a three-run double in the 9th.

This year, Fulton has batted at a .325 pace with 172 hits, 5 home runs, 49 RBIs and scored 76 times.
