Schwartz Gets 5 Hits
|
After his 5-hit effort at BB&T Ballpark was tarnished by Winston-Salem's 6-4 loss to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, third baseman Jonathan Schwartz told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."
He didn't get the win, but the 23-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Blue Rocks.
"His swing is getting there," said Dash skipper Sage Diehm after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jonathan did that to perfection and we wasted it."
Jonathan Schwartz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
This year, Schwartz has hit at a .305 pace and produced 23 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 19 runs.
