Mariners Turn Back Baltimore, 5-3
|
The Seattle Mariners withstood an impressive performance by Baltimore second baseman Ricky Mata to defeat the Orioles, 5-3, at T-Mobile Park. Mata went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. With the loss, Baltimore falls to 4-5.
Seattle shortstop Jose Mayoral contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 10th hit of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 5-3.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Seattle manager Danny Kuchta.
