The Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Royals, 4-2, at Fenway Park. Boston shortstop Sean Falvey had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alban Birindelli notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The save went to Mike Langston, number 2 for him.

With Boston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Falvey hit a changeup from Bobby Howell for a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 2-0.

Boston manager Craig Harris was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
