Generals Top Jumbo Shrimp, 5-2
|
The Jackson Generals picked up a win at The Ballpark at Jackson, knocking off the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 5-2. Starting pitcher Mike Flores was a big reason why. With the victory, the Generals record now stands at 35-53.
The Jumbo Shrimp had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Generals going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Tim Mazurkiewicz came to the plate. Mazurkiewicz hit a 2-run triple on a 2-1 splitter from Jacksonville hurler Eddie Valenzuela. It was Mazurkiewicz's 1st triple of the year.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Flores said.
