The Detroit Tigers rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Ron Jolly to a win, beating the Cleveland Indians, 3-2, at Comerica Park. Mike Juarez picked up the save for Detroit, his 2nd of the year. The victory makes Detroit 2-0.

Nate McIntire helped out the Detroit cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 1-3.

McIntire called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
