Big Day for Watson: Swats 5 Hits
|
Bowie center fielder J.J. Watson had a big day at Prince George's Stadium against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The 25-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 6-2 Baysox triumph over Richmond.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Watson said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
J.J. Watson doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
At present, Watson is batting .312 and has collected 1 home run, 44 RBIs, .358 OBP and scored 78 runs.
