Braves Stun Blue Jays, 5-4
|
Toronto got a valiant performance from pitcher Andres Sanchez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta won the game, 5-4. Sanchez threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Mike Knab in relief, making him now 7-10. Aidan Bailey took the loss for Toronto. Jesus Cordova recorded the save, making him 9 for 14.
Gene Barham drove in one run for Atlanta. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Barham, who won the Rookie of the Year in 2038, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Toronto hurler Aidan Bailey, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Braves a 5-4 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Barham told the Atlanta Bulletin.
The win makes Atlanta 66-96.
