Padres Rally Late to Clip Chicago
|
San Diego pitcher Edgar Nunez did his part in helping his team beat the Chicago White Sox, 2-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Earning his 36th save of the year was Mike Blakely. The 4th-place Padres go to 68-85.
Had Ben Jankowski not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Jankowski hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Padres.
"Edgar giving us the start that he did was huge," said San Diego manager Jason X.
