A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins.
The timely hitting of Joe Barnes helped the New York Yankees down the Minnesota Twins, 8-3. Barnes went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Yankees. Alex Eras, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 4.
New York right fielder Josh Dillinger contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 60th hit of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 5-2.
Dillinger told a New York News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The win puts the Yankees at 66-88, while the Twins drop to 79-75.
