The Washington Nationals got a rain-soaked win over the New York Mets.

The New York Mets got a superb performance from pitcher Ramon Castellano, but the Washington Nationals still won the game, 5-2. Castellano threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The Mets have now dropped 6 straight.

Washington used the timely hitting of Dusty Cherry to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nationals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Cherry, "one at-bat at a time."
